Kyle Harmon Obituary

Kyle J. Harmon, 26, left his career with Circuit City on February 16, 2005 to begin a new career serving God. He leaves behind a much loved wife, Angie. He also leaves family that loved him deeply: parents, Mark and Gloria Harmon; in-law parents, Lance and Karen Hodges; his brother, Patrick, who was best man at Kyle's wedding; his "Hokie" sister, Julie Ann; and 18-year-old twin brothers, Brian and Benjamin, who always looked up to their Big Brother Kyle. He also leaves a special sister-in-law, Carla Hodges Helton; brother-in-law, Gary Helton; and a very special niece, Joleigh Helton. He will be much missed by his other favorite girl, his sheltie, Jasmine. Kyle leaves behind several loving grandparents: his own grandparents, Clyde and Gladis Lehman and Dewey and Viola Harmon, and Angie's grandparents, Harlan and Mary Bowman and Edith Hodges. Kyle also leaves many special aunts and uncles and cousins, plus numerous friends in Richmond and Roanoke, Virginia, where he was born and lived until he left to attend Virginia Tech. Kyle never met a stranger. He loved life. Kyle and Angie had built a home together in Richmond, Kyle always took great pride in his home. In his younger years, he played basketball, baseball, soccer and golf. He continued to play sports as an adult, with golf quickly becoming his favorite. Church was important to Kyle. He grew up in the Church of the Brethren. When he and Angie moved to Richmond, they attended several churches before finding a loving and supportive church family at Mount Vernon Baptist. Kyle's life enriched the lives of all those he met. His smile will be forever etched in our hearts. Even in death, Kyle reminds us: "Life is so fragile, Loss is so sudden; Hearts are so broken, But hope is so eternal!" A memorial service will be held 7 p.m. Thursday, February 24, 2005, at Mount Vernon Baptist Church, 11220 Nuckols Road, Glen Allen, Va. The family will receive friends 7 to 9 p.m. Friday, February 25, at Oakey's South Chapel, 4257 Brambleton Avenue, Roanoke, Va. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, Oak Grove Church of the Brethren. Burial will follow in Franklin Memorial Park, Rocky Mount, Va.

For most of Kyle's 26 years all of the Cave Spring area had the privilege of knowing him. We will all have many fond memories of Kyle and will cherish them. Kyle was one of the good guys and we are all fortunate to have had him as a friend. His friends will always remember the fun times at his playhouse, the pickup football games, bike rides and just hanging out. Let us all remember that wonderful warm and friendly smile.

I have not seen Kyle since college. I remember sharing birthday parties with him growing up as well as playing baseball and basketball together. He was a very positive person who loved and lived life to the fullest. My prayers are with his family.

The Holody family sends our sympathy to Gloria & Mark and their family. Ryan shared the same birthday with Kyle and they went from Oak Grove, Hidden Valley to CSHS and even on to VT. There are many fond memories playing Little League games against each other's team. Our thoughts are with his wife and family, also.

I worked with Kyle when I was an advertising specialist for the car audio category at Circuit City a few years ago within the 10 years that I have been here. He was one of the sweetest guys I had ever met here at Circuit City. He had plenty of friends who will cherish their memories with him forever. To Kyle's family, I am really sorry for your loss. He was a nice person to know. My thoughts & prayers will be with you.

No matter what time of day or night he would always make me laugh and smile. He was the kind of person everyone wanted to be around. He has been such a great friend to me and to so many others, he will truely be missed. Kyle, thanks for the laughs, your friendship, the rounds of golf, walks around Circuit City, and all of the other memories! I will never forget you!

My heart hurts so badly for you all. Angie, I have thought about the song "Jesus will still be there" everytime it plays, since you sang it at Bethlehem. That song came on today and I listened to the words again and how powerful they are. You and your family (Hodges and Harmon) are wrapped in love and prayers. Love to all, Mimi Deacon

I was deeply saddened when I heard about the loss of Kyle. I remeber him best for the times we spent together on numerous sports teams during our childhood. From the All Star basball teams to the Hidden Valley JH Basketball team, he always displayed great sportsmanship and had a positive attitude. During our high school years, I remember running track with him and his brother and talking about our lawn businesses we each had. Even as we grew up and did not see each other as much, everytime I ran into Kyle it was like we were the best of friends. I always recieved a warm and friendly feeling from him. I am sorry for your loss, and my thoughts and prayers are with you.

Angie, my heartfelt sympathy goes out to you and the family. He is in a better place but he sure leaves a "big hole" here on earth. Kevin's life has been blessed by having you and Kyle as wonderful friends. I pray that our Lord will wrap his arms around you for love, comfort and support. Please call on me if there is anything I can do for you - including listening when you are hurting or even cry with you. God will give you the strength you are going to need. My prayers and love are with you.
