Lewis Gordon Pickett

PICKETT, Lewis Gordon, 82, of Doswell, passed away Monday, July 9, 2007. He is survived by his devoted, loving wife of 60 years, Dorothy Lucille Longest Pickett; two daughters, Mary Lewis Pickett and June Pickett Hastings and husband, Earl, both of Richmond; one grandson, Michael "Mick" Lewis Hastings; sister, Evelyn P. Carneal of Doswell; brother, Owen B. Pickett and wife, Sybil, of Virginia Beach; niece, Deborah Taylor and husband, F.W.; great-niece, Morgan Taylor; two sisters-in-law, Margaret Cowell, and Shirley Elliott and husband, Warner; and numerous other nieces and nephews. Lewis was a World War II Army veteran, retired as vice-president of Harris Heating & Plumbing, where he worked for 41 years, and a charter member of the Doswell Ruritan Club. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Central Chapel of Bennett Funeral Home, 3215 Cutshaw Avenue, where funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday, July 11, with entombment to follow in Forest Lawn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to Doswell Fire Department or Ashland Rescue Squad.
