MITCHELL, Linda Shepherd, 72, of Richmond, Va., passed away peacefully on Friday, February 12, 2021. She was preceded in death by her father, Alvin M. Shepherd; grandson, Samuel T. Spott; and her husband, Ashton D. Mitchell III. Survivors include her mother, Bettina Shepherd; sister, Marcia Harrison; and brother, Alvin Shepherd. She is also survived by her four children, William (Billy) Spott IV (Donia), Nicole Midulla (Sal), Jennifer Spott (Andrew) and Ashton Mitchell IV (Rebecca); her eight loving grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Linda was a graduate of Douglas Freeman and worked for Henrico County Public Schools for over 30 years. She dedicated her life to her students and children with special needs and was an advocate for troubled teens struggling with substance abuse. She was a fun-loving, loyal friend and loving grandmother who will always be the heart of our family. The family would like to extend their gratitude to Charity Wonah-Hakpon (St. Sarah's Assisted Living) and her devoted family for the care and love they have given to Linda for the past two years. We are also grateful for the Bon Secours Hospice Team that has supported us through this time. Due to COVID-19, the family has requested a private Celebration of Life to be scheduled at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation in Linda's name to St. Sarah's Assisted Living so they can continue providing wonderful care to Alzheimer patients (St. Sarah's Assisted Living, 9409 Lester Ln., Henrico, Va. 23229).
