Lonnie Midkiff Obituary
"Odis" was born at Eastview Farm, home of his fraternal grandparents, Joseph Benjamin Midkiff and Sara Ellen Simmons Midkiff, on July 27, 1933 in Cumberland, VA.
Throughout his life, he exemplified kindness, integrity, and faith in the Lord. Odis was raised at Willow Oak Farm in Cumberland, he attended Cumberland High School. Odis worked and retired at age 75 in the dry cleaning and laundry field.
Odis was a faithful servant of the Lord's for his entire life. He sowed seeds of God's grace to his children and those around him. We are eternally grateful for his salvation and faith in the Lord.
Odis played the guitar and several other instruments. He enjoyed playing and singing to gospel, country, and bluegrass music. A gifted musician, he found true happiness in every note he played and sang.
Odis was preceded in death by his father; Lonnie W. Midkiff, his mother; Neva Midkiff, his siblings; Elbert Midkiff, Margaret M. Scott, and James Midkiff, and his wife; Kathleen M. Midkiff. He is survived by his sister; Nellie Jane M. Jervis, his loving children; Jerry Midkiff, Winifred Midkiff, Timothy Midkiff (Robyn Webb), and Sharon M. Buchanan (Chris Buchanan), his grandchildren; Benjamin Midkiff (Nicole Midkiff), Sarah M. Muminovic (Dejan Muminovic), and David Scott (Jennifer H. Scott), his great grandchildren; Anya Muminovic, Liam Muminovic, Jonathan Midkiff, Thomas Midkiff, and many nephews, nieces, and cousins, who will forever treasure his memory. His legacy lives on in the faith and values he instilled and the love he shared.
A memorial service will be held on November 8, 2025 at 12:00 p.m. at Oak Grove Baptist Church, 637 Cartersville Rd, Cumberland, VA 23040 to celebrate his life. Lunch will be served in the fellowship hall following the services. Family and friends are warmly invited to join us in remembering him.
Our father's presence will be deeply missed, but his spirit will remain with us always.
