Malcolm Stone Obituary

STONE, Malcolm Durward, 93, died on Sunday, May 19, 2024. He was born to the late Dock P. and Edna O. Stone in Thaxton, VA. He is also preceded in death by his brother, Dock P. Stone, Jr. Malcolm Stone dutifully served his country in the United States Army, rising to the rank of Sergeant. He fought in the Korean War, from 1949 to 1952. He began his career with Allied Chemical in Hopewell, VA, and retired from A. H. Robins Company after more than three decades of service. He was an avid gardener and provided seasonal vegetables to his family and community. Always a do-it-yourself craftsman, he created a workshop and enjoyed woodworking in his retirement. He is survived by his loving wife of 72 years, Dollie Stone; his daughters, Barbara Rollins (Joseph) and Brenda Jones (Harry); his grandchildren, Neal Rollins, Anna Nichole Evancho (Ian), Sarah Rachel Jones, and Helen France Jones; and great-granddaughter Lorelei Rollins.

The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m. on Tuesday, May 28, 2024, at the Chester Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home with the service starting at 2 p.m. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Park. Memorial donations may be made to Bensley-Bermuda Volunteer Rescue Squad or Chester United Methodist Church. Condolences can be registered at jtmorriss.com.
