Dr. Mary Linda Christian

CHRISTIAN, Dr. Mary Linda, passed to eternal rest on Saturday, October 7, 2023, on the Feast of the Holy Rosary. "Linda" as she was known, was born on March 26, 1940 in Richmond, Virginia to Linwood Brown and Louise Christian. She was raised in Richmond's East End by her grandmother, Moriah Linda Christian. Linda was received into the Roman Catholic Church as a convert shortly after her seventeenth birthday on April 20, 1957 at Holy Rosary Roman Catholic Church. Linda was an eager student all of her life. She received her Bachelor of Arts, Masters of Arts and Masters in Education from Virginia Commonwealth University. Her academic achievements were crowned, at age 64, with the bestowal of a Doctor of Philosophy from Virginia Commonwealth University in 2004. Linda spent a lifetime as a public school teacher in the City of Richmond Public Schools. She taught, primarily, English, in the City high schools including Huguenot High School. She ended her time on this earth peacefully at Southampton Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center surrounded by friends and devoted care-givers. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Monday at 6006 Three Chopt Road. Internment Mt. Calvary Cemetery.
