I had the pleasure of meeting Mike when we were both in the Supervisor Training Program at Philip Morris, and his sense of humor and terrific stories made that program a pleasure instead of the pain it would have been otherwise. His devotion to Susan was inspirational to me as a newlywed at that time, and I've no doubt he was a great father as well. I am truly sad to know he's gone, since I always hoped to run into Mike again one day and down another beer or three with him.

Dear Susan and Sean,
I am deeply saddened to hear about Mike's passing. Mike was the life of the party and he always made me feel welcome and even went out of his way to ensure I felt like part of the family during the holidays and vacations. I've never had better pancakes.
Your family's acceptance of Matthew and I was heartfelt and a truly wonderful experience. I still cherish the jewelry box and pen Mike made for me. I still have several hundred pictures on my cpu from our excursions to "Tansey Times" and holidays. You are welcome to any of them.
Your family is in my prayers.
God Bless,
Jamie

Susan and family and Brother Kevin
I am glad that I was able to meet Mike at the Homestead after I had met and sat down with Susan at the Homestead during one of our CTF adventures. I remember it was surprising to Susan that I had attended school with Kevin in the sixties.
As a pastor I can tell you that only God can heal a broken heart from the loss of a loved one. My prayer is He will give you peace and assurance that one day you will be with Mike again. Eternal life means forever and Mike is there but we still have that road to travel.

Susan, Sean and Family,
We were shocked and saddened to hear about Mike's sudden passing. He was a bundle of enegry and always managed to find a way to make you smile....especially during the long night shift at PM. He will be remembered as a caring man who loved his family and was truly a "jack of all trades". He definately made the most of his retirement years and we know that your many memories of Mike will sustain you in the rough times.
Our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family and may God keep you in his grace.

I met Mike through his visits to Rees.. I was "the new girl" but he made me feel like we had known each other a lifetime. He was always smiling and telling stories about the rivah and what he was doing there. He spoke of his family and many friends...It would be hard to ever phantom him meeting anyone who he did not make feel like a friend. He was a person who could make your bad day seem like it never happen.
May the wonderful memories you hold dear in your heart help you through this difficult time.

To Susan and the rest of your family, I only knew Mike through RIVA parties @ Don & Lisa's house and at all the usual birthday, bosses day functions that were had while I was working for Don. I remember asking Don one day if I could go to the river and just relax by the water. He told me that was fine. When I got there, Mike came walking up to me and asked "who are you?" ( Ever protective) I told him & we stood and talked for over an hour. Ever since, everytime I saw him, I felt that he was a true friend. When God made him, he did a wonderful job and Mike will truly be missed by everyone that knew him for a long time or even briefly. He is soaring above the RIVA now enjoying his new life. My thoughts and prayers are with all of you.

Like everyone else it came as a total shock.
Mike, and I go back to when we were kids and enjoyed many zany adventures together.

Susan,
I am so sorry to hear about your sudden loss. I think the last time I seen you was at the loss of my dad. Things happen so sudden it leaves you numb and it seems like it is not real. With my dad its been almost 10 years but its something that every day is still hard on us. I hope you and Sean find comfort or just think of it as now you still have Mike he is just a special picked Angel to watch over you. God needed him for an Angel since he has a special place in everyones heart.
If there is anything we can do let me know.
We love you and miss you so much. You have always been an important person to me.
Take care and keep intouch

We're fallen stars, far from home
Here to touch a life or two.
But you should of seen the heavens rejoice
When they saw what this star could do!
So many lives have been touched
By the brightness of his glow
A sincere smile, a genuine laugh
True compassion, he would show.
This star shown so bright
That the heavens did see
And they called him back home
To shine with Thee
So when those days pass
And you miss that star and his light
Just tilt your head towards the heavens
On a clear and beautiful night!

I was so very saddened to hear of Mikes passing. I worked with Mike for many years at PM on the Midnight shift. He was the first to share his knowledge of computers with me. He once told me to learn Excel when I was trying to learn another program long since forgotten. Boy! was he ever right. Used Excel my entire career at PM. We had many conversations about many things in conference room 2E at PM. We always took our break at the same time and "held court" there 5 nights a week. He was a kind and generous man who will be missed by everyone who came in contact with him.

My wife, Ashley, and I loved our brief moments of Tansey Time at the Rivah. Mike was so proud of his house and made his house a home to his neighbors. It was obvious how much he loved life, his wife, his family and jet skis :). This summer he told us of how much fun and how rewarding it was to raise a child and he seemed to take enjoyment from watching us expect our first. The Rivah at Ft. It's with a heavy heart that I sign this guestbook. A light somewhere in the corner of my heart has gone out with this news. It has been many years since I have physically seen the man, but he helped shape me, so he was always with me. As a daughter of one of your Police buddies and a neighbor across the street on Walnut Grove Drive. You used to threaten to give me tickets because I ran too fast on my long skinny legs. I wish I could go back in time to those days (and the long skinny legs). Susan you were also such a gift to me, I only knew Sean as a cute baby. I now have 4 of my own babies, and I am so sorry they never got to know Mike. He was truly a great man, as it shows in these sweet words offered by so many. Thank you for many good memories. Though they were long ago, they are treasured.....Michelle Bryant Meacham

Susan and Sean, David and I were so shocked to hear of Mike's death last week. I just saw and visited with him in July at MCV,of all places, when David was having Knee surgery. I had gone to the cafeteria and was waiting for an elevator to get back to the waiting room and out of the elevator came Michael. With a big smile and a warm hug, we visited and "caught up" on what he'd been up to. We didn't get to visit much over the years, but when we did run into each other, it was always a pleasure to visit and catch up on your lives. He was the best man in our wedding and I'll always remember him fondly. Our prayers are with you and we hope your warm memories of your husband/and father will help sustain and comfort you in the coming months. He will be greatly missed.

To Quita, Kevin, and all of Michael's family that I've never had the opportunity to know, heartfelt condolences on the loss of the very wonderful Michael. Remembering him as a boy and young man, I'm reminded of these words from that old Irish folk song "The Bard of Armagh":

Susan - just find comfort in these words: Let not your heart be troubled; believe in God, believe also in Me. In my Father's house are many dwelling places; if it were not so, I would have told you; for I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself; that where I am, there you may be also. NAS John 14:1-3. I will always have great memories of Mike while here at PM and on the dance floor at our holiday parties the joy he shared with Stephenia and I. May God be with you…

Susan and Sean,
My prayers go out to you as you go through this difficult time. So sorry to hear of your loss! I have so many great memories of Mike and his stories and enjoyed working with him so much over the years. I learned a great deal from him when I first came to Philip Morris.
Please know that my thoughts are with you both.

Mike was a gifted individual. True, he was the life of the room through his story-telling ability. But, Mike was one of those rare individuals who could influence others without using authority. His effectiveness was intensified by his philosophy that he would never ask others to do what he would not do himself. My deepest sympathy to Susan and Sean.
