Milly Gresko

1942 - 2023

GRESKO, Milly, age 80, died at VCU Medical Center on February 17, 2023, after a brief illness. Born in Providence, R.I., Milly lived throughout the U.S. but spent the last 40 years in Richmond. She is survived by her two children, Beth LaGasse of Zephyrhills, Fla. and Steven Warren of Cambridge, Mass. She also leaves behind her Richmond family, Mike, Rebecca and Patrick Wray; and devoted friend, Molly Dellinger-Wray.

Milly was a proud graduate of the VCU School of the Arts and spent many happy years in a career with Maguire Woods. Milly's sharp personality, creativity and great sense of humor were evident through her many large paintings and art creations such as "the working woman's plant" which featured floral painted wooden cooking utensils "growing" out of a flower pot. She loved bright colors, shopping and the pleasures of a great meal.

Milly's final years were difficult due to struggles with physical and mental health, and she isolated herself from many kind friends who reached out to her. After living independently was no longer an option, she moved to the William Byrd Apartments and subsequently St. Francis Manchester, where she continued to be admired by those around her. Special thanks to VCU Health Gerontology including Martha Purvis N.P. and Dr. Sara Hobgood M.D. who helped Milly face many challenges in her later years, and to the wonderful staff of St. Francis and the William Byrd. A celebration of her life will take place at 1 p.m. on her birthday, Monday, March 20 at St. Francis Manchester.
