Myrtle Milby Shockley

Myrtle Milby Shockley, age 95, of Mechanicsville, Va., went to be with her Lord and Savior, on Sunday, February 1, 2026. Born to the late Seth and Rosa Milby in Shacklefords, VA on December 28, 1930, Myrtle was a lifelong devoted Christian who dedicated her time to the service of others. She was a loving and attentive mother who instilled the Christian faith in her two sons. Myrtle was also an avid gardener who befriended and cared for the squirrels in her yard, many of which trusted her enough to be fed from the palm of her hand. Myrtle was a member of Shalom Baptist Church for nearly 40 years. In addition to her parents, Myrtle is preceded in death by her husband of 29 years, Howard Lee Shockley, Jr.; her five siblings, Beatrice, Roland, Levi, Margaret, and Herbert; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and many friends. Left to cherish her memory are her two sons, James Alvin Shockley and David Howard Shockley; her grandson, David Kyle Shockley; many cousins; and many beloved friends. A funeral service was held on Tuesday, February 10, 2026, at 2:00 P.M. in the Poroporone Baptist Church, located at 30071 The Trail, Shacklefords, VA 23156 with Rev. Mark D. Miller officiating. A visitation was held one hour prior to the service in the church from 1:00 P.M. to 2:00 P.M. The committal followed the funeral service in the Poroporone Baptist Church Graveyard with family and friends serving as pallbearers.
