Norma Hurst Greene

Norma Hurst Greene, 70, of Montpelier, passed away at her home surrounded by her loving family. She was preceded in death by her parents, Garland Benjamin Hurst, Jr. and Dorothy Madeline (McGee) Hurst, and a granddaughter, Jocelyn Raine Greene. Surviving are her faithful devoted husband of 49 years, Joseph Marion Greene Sr.; one daughter, Kristinia Barlow and her husband Kevin; one son, Joseph Greene Jr. and his wife Jennifer; eight grandchildren, Heather, Jay, Harley, Jewel, Skylar, Joshua, Rylan, and Elise; two great-grandchildren; and one sister, Emma Cox and her husband, Lonnie.

Norma loved the Lord and her church. Her loving nature and compassionate spirit had a way of drawing others toward her. All who met her considered her their friend. Norma retired from Verizon phone company after 30 and a half years, then worked with Dr. Sasser as his nurse. She also enjoyed running rescue with West Hanover EMS for 16 years. She was proud and devoted in helping others. She loved going to "card-club" with family and friends to make greeting cards of all kinds. She also took pleasure collecting porcelain dolls, Longaberger baskets, antiques, and trips with her family. Norma adored spending time with her grandchildren as well.

Visitation for Norma will be held at Bliley's Funeral Home, 8510 Staples Mill Road, on Monday, September 23, 2024, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Funeral services will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday, September 24, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 14573 Scotchtown Road, Montpelier, VA, with a visitation starting at 10:30 a.m. Interment, Greenwood Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to Shriners Children's Hospital.
