Norman A. Watko

WATKO, Norman A., 93, of Hopewell, Virginia, passed away on November 27, 2021. He was preceded in death by his wife, Patricia Lacey Watko. Norman was a painter and carpenter by trade and was well-known in the area. He served his country honorably in the United States Army during the Korean War, where he operated heavy equipment. It was while performing these duties that he was shot and injured in the line of duty and received the Purple Heart. Norman is survived by his children, Dianne Willis (Joe) of Prince George, Va., Jacob Y. Smith (Jan) of Lincoln, Neb. and Douglas Watko (Carrie) of Enon, Va.; four grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and numerous extended family members and friends. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, December 11, 2021 at 11 a.m. at J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home – Hopewell, Va., 820 W. Broadway Avenue. Interment will be private.
