I met Phil in the third grade and we remained friends throughout high school. We had lunch together on Saturdays when he worked at Cross Bros. Grocery, and I had a job at Paynter´s Department Store across the train tracks. We ate at Barnes Drug Store, which is now Suzanne´s. Like many of us , his sweet mother got me through Algebra. In later years, he was an excellent neighbor to my aunt when he lived next door to her. Phil was a fixture in Ashland. Rest well my old friend. I look forward to seeing you on the other side someday. I have great memories of Phil from high school and a short time together at Madison College. He was a fun guy to be around and was a comfort to our family when he lived next door to my wife's elderly aunt in Ashland when he would be there for her when she needed him. He was a good all around guy
