Phyllis G. Wright

WRIGHT, Phyllis G., 93, of Richmond, Va., passed away on December 10, 2022. She was the daughter of the late Ralph and Page Godfrey and was born and lived in Southside Richmond. She was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Ralph R. Wright; son-in-law, Sam Mattison; and brothers, Millard, Ralph and Donald Godfrey. She is survived by her children, Kenneth D. Wright (Andrea) of Wake Forest, N.C., Martha W. Mattison of Midlothian, Va. and Kathy G. Wright of Richmond, Va.; grandsons, Marcus, Whitney, Mitchell and Alex Mattison and Spencer Wright; sister-in-law, Anne Godfrey; sister, Edna St. John; and her dear nieces. Phyllis was a lifelong and active member of Woodland Heights Baptist Church and a member of the Chesmond Women's Club. She was a 1947 graduate of John Marshall High School. Her final years were spent at Sunrise at Bon Air, and her family is forever grateful for the loving and professional attention provided by its staff of care givers. A memorial ceremony will be held 2 p.m. Friday, December 16, 2022 at Bliley's-Chippenham, 6900 Hull Street Rd. A private interment was held in Maury Cemetery.
