Renae Hedrick Obituary

Renae Hedrick

October 25, 1954 - December 28, 2025

Renae Fenton Hedrick, 71, beloved wife, mother and Grammie, claimed the promise of the resurrection on December 28, 2025. Renae was a National Board Certified teacher and a 30 year teacher in Chesterfield County Public Schools with time spent in 2nd and 3rd grade classrooms, and in elementary and high school libraries. She also taught in St. Luke's UMC preschool for a time and served as a private tutor for several students. She was an ardent promoter of phonics to help students learn to read. Renae loved her family most of all, as well as books, traveling and her collection of lavish, not tacky, Christmas sweaters, her extensive wardrobe and her collection of fine jewelry from all over the world.

Renae was preceded in death by her parents, Benjamin W. Fenton, Jr. and Anne W. Fenton, and her brother Benjamin W. Fenton, III. She is survived by her husband of 50 years, Tom, son, Christopher T. Hedrick and daughter, Jennifer H. Divers, son-in-law, Brandon Divers, and two special grandsons, Hudson James Divers and Sheppard Thomas Divers, as well as several sisters-in-law and their families. She also is survived and was supported by an extended family of "cousins" and an army of friends, many of whom she had kept in touch with for many years.

A celebration of Renae's life will be held at Woodlake United Methodist Church, 15640 Hampton Park Drive, Chesterfield, VA, 23832 at 11 AM on January 8, 2026 with a reception to follow in the church's gathering space. Renae loved flowers and always requested that there be some at her funeral. Alternatively, memorial contributions may be made to the memorial fund at Woodlake United Methodist Church.
