Richard "Dickie/"Dick" Mudd

April 5, 1943 - October 24, 2024

Richard "Dickie/Dick" Mudd passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family on October 24, 2024, after a brief battle with cancer. He was 81. Dickie grew up in Ginter Park where he enjoyed scouting, riding bicycles, ball games, swimming, fishing, and playing music with friends. He graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School and earned degrees in Political Science and History from Virginia Commonwealth University. In 1966, he married Donna Lee Kirby, and they soon moved to Westover Hills where they raised their family and were active in the community for over 51 years. An entrepreneur, Dick founded a successful mutual funds company and was known for his generosity, often offering free financial consultations. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Donna; brother, Billy; children, Kirby Pierce (Steve), Richard "Rick" Mudd (Susan), and Allison Moore (Scott); 10 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and many beloved nieces, nephews, and extended family.

A service of remembrance will be held November 30, 2024, at 1 p.m. at Reveille United Methodist Church, 4200 Cary Street Road, Richmond, VA.

Donna and Family,
Dickie was a long time good friend. We went to Thomas Jefferson High School and in the Cadet Corps together. I will really miss seeing him at our TJ quarterly luncheon. We always brought up the fun times we had in school. He was the Best!! God Bless you.
Sincerely, Bobby Davidson

Donna, I'm so sorry. Dick has been a friend since we were children in Ginter Park. He helped me out in so many ways, including sobriety, financial advice, but most importantly always as a good friend. I will miss our chats and lunch visits. Take care you are in my thoughts.
