RICHARD STEGEMERTEN Obituary

STEGEMERTEN, Richard R., unexpectedly passed away on October 29, 2012. He has now joined his dad, Walter Stegemerten; his sister, Susan Boyce; and his uncle, Leland Stegemerten. He is survived by his son, Brian; and daughter, Renee; his mom, Harriet Stegemerten; and sister, Barbara Johnston; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Richard was a unique person and loved by so many. He was a sports fanatic, from playing golf, to yelling during a Redskins football game. He was a teacher and assistant coach at Matoaca High School. He had a positive yet interesting way of teaching, by having a no nonsense demeanor, but yet bent over backwards to make sure his kids succeeded. He loved his own kids very much and took them on field trips to see different parts of the United States which generated fond memories. He will be sorely missed, but his legacy will live on through his family and the school where he taught. A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, November 6 from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Huguenot Chapel, Woody's Funeral Home, 1020 Huguenot Rd., in Midlothian, Va. In lieu of flowers, a relief fund "In Honor of Coach Steg" has been set up at the Bank of McKinney, or a donation to Special Olympics, since he did coach basketball, or the Humane Society, where he was a repeated contributor.
