Richard Surma Obituary

Richard Dennis "Rich" Surma

Richard Dennis "Rich" Surma, 72, of Chesterfield County, Va., died peacefully at his home on January 26, 2025. Rich was born in Richmond to John and Audrey Surma. He graduated from Manchester High School then enlisted and served four years in the United States Air Force. He retired after many years from Superior Equipment and still kept in touch with his coworkers. Rich loved Ford Mustangs and was an avid North Carolina Tarheels basketball fan. Along with his parents, Rich was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, John and Clara Surma of Perth Amboy, N.J.;, and his maternal grandparents, Raymond and Marion Britton of Chesterfield County, Va. He is survived by his brother, Jack (Bonnie); and niece and nephew, Meg and Matt. He is also survived by his nephew, J.J. (Erica); and grand-niece and grand-nephew, Molly and Ian.

A memorial service will be held at Lyndale Baptist Church, Chesterfield, Va., at 1 p.m. on February 15, 2025, with visitation from noon to 1 p.m. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Lyndale Baptist Church - Blessing Box.
