Robert Katzman Obituary

KATZMAN, Mr. Robert Joseph, 62, of Midlothian, Va., went to heaven on March 30, 2023, surrounded by his children and family.

Rob was born on September 5, 1961, to Robert Joseph Dombroski and Patricia H. Dombroski (Daniels) in Shamokin, Pa. Rob graduated from the University of Tennessee with a degree in Accounting and spent his years there as an athletic trainer, traveling with teams across the country and was a Vol for life! Rob went on to recieve his M.B.A. from Texas Chrisitian University and was passionate about his work with Big Brothers and Big Sisters.

After graduating, Rob spent the entirety of his career in the field of finance and most recently worked independently with Expense Reduction Analysts (ERA). As an extremely hard worker, his knowledge and charisma afforded him the opportunities needed to provide for his family.

Rob was predeceased by his father, Robert Joseph Dombroski; and stepfather, Richard Katzman. He is survived by his mother, Patricia Kee (Norm); brothers, J.R. Katzman (Bev), and Rich Katzman (Robin); his four children, Ellen (Kyle), Nick, Mike and Maddie; three grandchildren, Lilly, Isabelle and Micah; as well as numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and one godchild.

Rob was a thoughtful and genuine soul. He had an infectious smile and boisterous laugh. Rob was known for his generosity and servant leadership. He spent years coaching various sports teams for his children and ensuring family meals were of top priority, namely Sunday brunch. His ability to tell stories and capture the attention of a crowd was like none other, inevitably cracking a joke and filling any room with laughter and smiles. In recent years his three grandchildren have been the light of his world and he spent the majority of his free time with family, serving his church, or on the golf course, laughing with friends. He is deeply missed and forever loved.

Services will be held at St. John Neumann Catholic Church on April 22 at 10:30 a.m. located at 2480 Batterson Rd., Powhatan, Va. 23139. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to St. Peter's Catholic Church Outreach Ministry in Richmond, Va., an organization Rob selflessly volunteered for weekly since the summer of 1998.

I just learned of Rob's passing today. I am deeply saddened. We became friends in 1987 when we both worked at the bank in Dallas. Later he was instrumental in my taking a job at Wachovia in Winston-Salem. We talked on the phone regularly over the last few years. We had many things in common. Prayers

Rob was one of the first people I met in my ERA journey. He was so kind, even-keel, funny and wise. His advice and guidance over the years were super helpful. You and your family are in my thoughts and prayers. May your 'tribe' be comforted by the thought of you watching over them.

Rob passing has made my heart heavy, though it immediately lightens when I think about his smile, good nature, love of family & grandchildren, love of being a servant to here in Powhatan at our church, the food pantry and getting firewood to those in need. I've just gotten to know him this past year, I will miss him and though very thankful for the way I witnessed him live his life. I hold onto that, and that witness will always be a blessing to me. May God hold him in his arms and bless his loved ones.

Rob was such a good SEC fan. We loved sharing stories about football. We had many memories about college football. He called me and cried when coach Johnny Majors passed away. Rob loved Vol football. He was "orange" true and true. I will miss him, but know he is up there wondering why in the heck the goal post was thrown in the TN. River after TN. beat Bama 15 years later? I love you and will miss you. ROLL TIDE

Rest in peace Rob. It has been a pleasure to know you over the past dozen or so years with ERA. I usually only saw you in person once a year at our conference (still remember when I met you the first time in Vegas). But you were one of the people I most looked forward to seeing every year. You were kind and sincere and just a good person, always willing to help on project work or just to lend an ear. The world was truly a better place with you in it. And you had a big impact on me if only by raising my spirits every time we talked.

Rob was a faithful friend and good buddy. His tenure as a volunteer for over 25 years with the St. Peter's team of the Richmond Open Door homeless lunch program was stellar. His presence, advice and work will be sorely missed by many. God speed friend

Rob was a good friend and golf buddy. I have missed him since moving to Florida. Rob was a 100% good person. We had so much fun together. His family was always part of conversation when we were together. You all were his life. I am blessed to have had him as my friend. Terry Powers.
