The Rev. Robert Wade "Bobby" Oliver Sr.

OLIVER, The Rev. Robert "Bobby" Wade, Sr., 88, of Richmond, Va., transitioned to his Heavenly reward on July 10, 2022. He was the second child of Roosevelt and Georgia Wade Oliver (Barron). Bobby was baptized at First African Baptist Church as a child and became a deacon and ordained minister. He was educated in the Richmond Public School system and Virginia Union University. He joined the United States Air Force and served as a medic during the Korean War. Those who knew him, whether for an hour or a lifetime, knew him as an optimistic, positive, spiritual presence. Bobby was a father, grandfather, brother and friend who believed in service to God and his community. He leaves to cherish his memory his children, Tracey Oliver, Robert Oliver Jr. and Robin Hill; his wife, Evelyn James Oliver; grandchildren, Staff Sgt. Braxton Booker, Robert Oliver, III, Lauren Oliver and Michael Hill; his sister the Rev. C. Delores O. Booker; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws and friends. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, July 30 at 2 p.m. at Scott's Funeral Home, 115 E. Brookland Park Blvd. In lieu of flowers, please make donations in the name of the Rev.
