Robert Reynolds Obituary
Robert Beatty Reynolds
Robert Beatty Reynolds (Bob), born in Richmond, Virginia, on February 21, 1931, went to his heavenly home to be with his Lord and Savior on March 23, 2025.
He is predeceased by his parents, James Monroe Reynolds and Lucille Beatty Reynolds; and brother, James Monroe Reynolds, Jr. (Virginia).
Bob grew up in Richmond and Chesterfield, Virginia, and attended Midlothian and John Marshall High Schools. After graduation, he joined the National Guard. He operated his own heating and air conditioning business before fulfilling his lifelong dream of becoming a pilot.
He is survived by his loving wife of 72 years, Constance (Connie) Gills Reynolds. They met at a Paul Jones dance at Midlothian High School and never dated anyone else. Bob and Connie married on November 22, 1952.
Bob is also survived by his daughter, Diane Lynn Reynolds; his son, Robert David Reynolds (Kimberly); daughter, Julie Reynolds Jones (Sam); sister, Mary Jo Reynolds Lux; and brother, William Frederick Reynolds (Frances).
Bob was a devoted grandfather to his three grandsons, Robert Andrew (Andy) Jones, Phillip Beatty Jones, and Seth Reynolds Jones (Molly). He delighted in seeing his two great-grandsons, Oliver and Henry Jones.
Bob retired from Ethyl Corporation in 1991 as the company's Chief Pilot for their corporate fleet. He truly enjoyed his career and working with the other pilots, mechanics, and especially flying the corporate executive team wherever they needed to go.
In his leisure time, Bob enjoyed golfing, playing tennis, camping, attending and watching VCU men's basketball games, boating and fishing on the Rappahannock River, spending winters on Hutchinson Island, Florida, and reading. As a devout Christian, Bob and Connie were members of Bon Air Baptist Church. As a self-taught builder, he hand-crafted the family's multiple homes, as well as homes for his two daughters. Nothing brought him more happiness than spending time with the family and friends he loved dearly.
Diane and David Reynolds' heartfelt words: "We are blessed with two wonderful parents. Our father has passed, and he held us to the standard that 'can't' does not exist in our family's vocabulary. Many find a companion; others find mates. Those who are blessed find their devoted soul mates for life, and that describes our parents.'
A celebration of Life will be held at Bliley's Funeral Home, located at 6900 Hull Street Road, Richmond, Virginia, on Thursday, March 27, 2025, at 10 a.m. Visitation with the family will be held one hour prior to the service at 9 a.m. Interment will follow the service at Forest Lawn Cemetery, located at 4000 Pilots Lane, Richmond, Virginia 23222.
