Robert Tipton Obituary

Robert H. Tipton Sr., 82, of Lignum, died peacefully, freed from his pain June 10, 2005 at Culpeper Regional Hospital. He was born December 16, 1922 in Johnson City, Tennessee to Nola and Tom Tipton. R.H. was a veteran of the United States Army Air Force, serving his country in World War II, and in later years retired as a brick layer. Mr. Tipton was preceded in death by his loving wife, Helen Gertrude Tipton; and his parents, Nola and Frank Giles and Tom Tipton. R.H. is survived by his son, Robert H. (Bobby/Red) Tipton Jr. and his wife, Fran of Beaverdam; his granddaughters, Maggie and Andrea; and his grandson, Nicholas. Additional survivors include his half brother, Ronnie Giles and his wife, Annie; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. His life was shared with many special people, a wonderful neighbor, Hope; and a dear friend, Butch. With his strength and strong desire for independence, he was able to remain in the comfort of his home that he loved, surrounded by close family and friends. The family will receive friends on Sunday, June 12, 2005 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Found and Sons Funeral Chapel, 850 Sperryville Pike, Culpeper, Va. 22701. A funeral service will be held on Monday, June 13, 2005 at Found and Sons Funeral Chapel at 11 a.m., with Rev. James Taylor officiating. Interment will follow at Culpeper National Cemetery with honors provided by the American Legion 330 and VFW Post 2524. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations may be made in his name to the Richardsville Rescue Squad, 29361 Eleys Ford Rd., Richardsville, Va. 22736. Found and Sons Funeral Chapel of Culpeper is handling the arrangements.
