Roger Wilkes Harris

HARRIS, Roger Wilkes, 78, of Glen Allen, died on Saturday, March 18, 2023. He was preceded in death by his parents, R. Ray and Corrie W. Harris; two sisters, Ann Holland and Virginia Browder; and his son, James Scott Harris. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Ann Newman Harris; his daughter, Catherine Allen (Toby); and grandchildren, Claire Allen and Hayley Allen.

Roger was a graduate of The Mount Berry School for Boys and Virginia Commonwealth University. He served as an officer in the United States Army and in Vietnam where he earned two Army Commendation medals and the Bronze Star. Roger was especially proud of being a member of OCS Class 515 Hotel and of the lifelong friendships he made there.

Roger worked in sales and sales management in the Yellow Page industry for his entire career. Upon his retirement from Verizon, he spent countless hours playing duplicate bridge at the Richmond Bridge Center with some of the nicest people in the Richmond area.

The family will receive friends 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday, March 25 at the West Chapel of Bennett Funeral Home, 11020 W. Broad Street. There will be a private service at the Virginia Veterans Cemetery at Amelia.
