I was very saddened to hear this news. Dr. Heinemann was always such a kind person. I loved singing in College Church choir with him in the tenor section! Thinking of all of you.

What a shock to hear of Ron's passing. We played many rounds of golf together and, despite my being eight years younger, it was always a challenge to keep up with Ron's walking pace. He was a good friend and delightful companion. He will be sorely missed. My heartfelt condolences to Sandy and the family.

I am truly saddened by the passing of Dr. Heineman. My years at H-SC were made easier by his interest in my development into a ""good man and good citizen". His caring and devotion not only made him into a great professor but a much better man. There was no greater influence on my development as a student and a person than Dr. Heinemann during my years at H-SC. My sympathy and prayers to his family and friends.

I haven't been at Hampden-Sydney long, but before Covid, I'd encounter Dr. Heinemann on my lunchtime walks. Sometimes, we'd have a chat about the college, history, or local politics. In addition to being an accomplished historian, he was very active in the co-ed debate that the college had in the mid-90s. Sad to hear of his passing. I will miss seeing him on campus.

Dr. Heinemann was one of my favorite professors. I graduated in 1970, so he was just a youngster when he taught Civil War and Modern American History. I will miss seeing Dr. Heinemann at Homecoming and our reunions. I always made a point to visit with him whenever I visited HSC.
