Rose Marie Jefferson was the third child born to Richard Ether Jefferson and Mary Magdalene Jefferson in Richmond, Virginia. Rose and Courtney Pollard, Sr. raised 5 children, Eugene Charles Pollard, Gale Pollard Taylor (Andrew), Patricia Pollard McDowell (David), Courtney Pollard, Jr., and Terri Elaine Pollard. She loved her 8 grandchildren, Andrea Taylor, Alexandria Taylor Mack (Michael), Courtney Pollard III (Octavia), Marcus Pollard Sr. (Stephanie), Kendra King Williams, Ethen Pollard, Micah King (Cherish), and Sydnee Lopes, and 7 great grandchildren, Zuri Leigh Pollard, Samuel Harper Williams, Weston Alexander Williams, Marcus Jerel Pollard, Jr., Logan Frederick Pollard, Mariyah Rose King, and Zahra Lane Pollard.
Rose graduated from the Richmond Technical School of Nursing as a Licensed Practical Nurse. She began her nursing career at Retreat Hospital, eventually moving to McGuire VA Hospital before landing at Barrett Learning Juvenile Correctional Center where she retired after 20+ years of service.
Rose was a faithful member of St. Peter's Episcopal Church, grassroots advocate in Church Hill and Fulton Hill communities, and a diligent Poll Worker and encouraged everyone she knew to exercise their right to vote.
Rose was preceded in death by her mother and father, sister Joyce Robinson, brothers Richard and James Jefferson. In addition to her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren she also leaves behind a brother Jeffery Jefferson, a sister-in-law Gladys Jefferson and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.
Memorial Service to be held, Saturday, October 5th ~ 11:00 a.m. at St. Peter's Episcopal Church, 1719 N. 22nd Street, Richmond, VA. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to her beloved St. Peter's Episcopal Church.
