Mary Elizabeth Kemp Revere

98, peacefully passed away surrounded by her loving family on April 3, 2025. She was born August 10, 1926, the oldest daughter of the late Lewis M. and Mary V. Kemp of Sandston, VA. She is predeceased by her beloved husband of 65 years, William Andrew Revere, and her sisters, Margaret Kemp Burnette and Louise Kemp Speight. Mary is survived by her daughter, Susan Revere Lewis; son, William Andrew Revere, Jr. (Gayle); granddaughter, Ashley Grey Alpert (Dave); grandsons, Andrew H. Revere and Ethan N. Revere (Jessica). Also surviving are numerous nieces and nephews, great-nieces and nephew, and great-great nieces and nephews. Mary loved her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ and was baptized at Fairmount Baptist Church in 1953. There she taught young children in Sunday School for many years. She was a devoted member of the WMU. She joined Shalom Baptist Church in 2017. Mary worked nearly 40 years for the Virginia Council of Churches. She was the administrative assistant to the executive secretary for the Council with a special emphasis on migrant workers. She was a loving wife and mother who always put others before herself. She was a voracious reader, an expert seamstress and she particularly loved working in her flower beds and vegetable garden. Her love for all animals led her to participate in the spay/neuter/release program for feral cats and she saw that injured wildlife found its way to a wildlife rehabilitation center. Her family wishes to thank Serenity First Hospice for the care, comfort and happiness they provided over the last three years with much appreciation extended to Emily, Gin-Nine, Paige and Asia. Also, thank you to her home healthcare nurse, Sallie Drake. A service will be held at 12 p.m. on Tuesday, April 15, 2025 at the Mechanicsville Chapel of Bennett Funeral Home, 8014 Lee-Davis Rd, Mechanicsville, VA 23111. The family will receive friends and relatives prior to the service from 10:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. Interment will follow at 1 p.m. at Washington Memorial Park Cemetery, 6217 Memorial Dr, Sandston, VA 23150. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to the Lottie Moon Christmas Offering c/o the International Mission Board, 3806 Monument Avenue, Richmond, VA 23230.
