Ruby Lewis Gibson

1928 - 2021

GIBSON, Ruby Lewis, 92, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 27, 2021. She was born on October 13, 1928, in Chesterfield County, Virginia, to Corry B. Lewis and India Walker Lewis. She and her twin sister, Sally, were the sixth and seventh of 10 siblings. Ruby was preceded in death by her husband, William Gibson; her parents; her three oldest children, Clyde W. Gibson, Deborah Gibson Parham and Charles H. Gibson; her grandson, Calvin L. Gibson Jr.; four sisters, Sally Lewis, Rosa L. Caldwell, Violet L. Powell and Annie L. Cox; four brothers, Wilson Elijah Lewis, Major B. Lewis, Herbert C. Lewis Sr. and Charles H. Lewis. She is survived by her daughter, Audrey Gibson; sons, Curtis D. Gibson (Deborah) and Calvin L. Gibson Sr. (Joyce); her sister, Grace L. Johnson; 13 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, nine great-great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives in the extended Lewis and Walker families. Remains rest at Mimms Funeral Home, 1827 Hull Street, Richmond, Va. 23224, where viewing will be Tuesday, February 2, 2021. Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the burial service will be private. We will plan a memorial/Celebration of Life gathering at a date in the future when it is safe to do so.
