Ruth McCoy Manning

A funeral for Ruth McCoy Manning, 83, will be held at 11:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Chancellorsville, Va. Burial will be on Friday, March 28, in Arlington National Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday, March 21, at the Covenant Funeral Home in Fredericksburg, Va. A rosary will be said beginning at 7:30 p.m. Ruth died Tuesday, March 18, 2003, her 83rd birthday, while vacationing at her daughter’s home in Hilton Head, S.C. She moved from Silver Spring, Md. to Chancellor’s Village in Fredericksburg in May 2002. Born and raised in Washington, D.C., she graduated from St. Patrick’s Academy. She spent her married life in Washington, D.C., Springfield, Va., Delaware and Florida. Mourning her loss are her four children and their spouses, Suellen Manning and her husband, Michael McDonell of Hilton Head, S.C., Martha and John Crigler of Fredericksburg, Va., Dennis R. and Patricia Manning of Glen Allen, Va., and Ruth and Randy Jaquith of King George, Va.; and her eight grandchildren, Dennis R. Manning Jr. and Brendan Manning, Laura and David Crigler, Corporal Brian Jaquith, USMC, currently serving in Kuwait, Matthew Jaquith, and Brendan and Christopher McDonell. Survivors also include her sister, Marie, and her husband Colonel Edwin Ferris of San Antonio, Texas; her brother, Joseph and his wife, June McCoy, of Potomac, Md.; and numerous nieces and nephews. Her husband of 48 years, Dennis F. Manning, preceded her in death in 1990.
