Sara Noftsinger Obituary

NOFTSINGER, Sara "Sasa" Britton, born August 3, 1969, was one of a kind. There wasn't a sunset she didn't photograph, a dolphin she didn't spot, a purse she didn't buy, a Build-a-bear she didn't create, an animal print she didn't have to have, a firefighter she didn't adore, a keychain she didn't collect, nor a song she didn't sing and dance her heart out to.

Above all else, she was a giver of joy; and she always left a trail of love wherever she went.

Sasa was a dolphin lover from the word go. In the beginning, she admired them from afar and in photographs. But on a trip to Florida, she found the opportunity to experience them first hand. Sasa swam with the dolphins. While in the water, two dolphins threw Sasa into the air in glory. This only increased her love for them.

Two years later, Sasa returned to the same dolphin habitat. She called the dolphin's name and although the dolphin had just given birth, she didn't hesitate and swam to greet Sasa -an unbelievable site, which had amateur photographers fumbling for their cameras and naturalists left in awe.

The dolphin sighting in the James River on July 7, 2022, was no accident. It was meant to be. He was calling her; she was going home.

That was Sasa. One of a kind. Always a flair for the dramatic.

God sent Sasa to this earth for a purpose. She wasn't special needs; she was an abundantly special giver.

Her smile could light up the darkest night sky. Sasa would be the first to welcome you. She was a difference maker, a people lover, a social butterfly. She was an artist and an Olympian. She didn't know the word hate. It never came out of her mouth. She was someone we should all aspire to be like. A special kind of special.

While we are unsure why He took her back so soon, we take comfort in believing she achieved her purpose. She was the light of our lives, of so many lives. We know her legacy will live on through each of us.

The family will hold a private graveside memorial. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hermitage Richmond, 1600 Westwood Avenue, Richmond, Va. 23227; her home which she loved. Please join us in singing Madonna, Whitney Houston, Mariah Carey, Brittney Spears or your favorite 1980/90s pop song at the top of your lungs.

Truly, Sara is with Christ. She loved God, she loved Christ. I will never forget her presence in the All Saints Christmas pageant. She wore her pink robe costume with love and reverence. I remember her artwork she donated to our fund raiser auctions. Everyone bid to receive an original Sara Nofsinger painting. Your smile and your friendliness at church, Sara will be sorely missed. God bless you and your family and we say thank you to God and your family for sharing you with us.

Sara was awesome! I worked with her for so many years! Her love of 80s music (and she new all the words) and love of keychains makes me smile. She will be missed, but she just made Heaven a brighter place!

Anyone who was fortunate enough to have had Sara in any way in their life was blessed with the gift of love. Sara knew how to love. We should all be so fortunate as to learn how to love as she loved. Love, A.D.

I often reflect on Sara's presence in the Lower School cafeteria at Collegiate. She greeted me daily with a smile and a story. She was a true joy and we've missed her since she retired in 2018. My thoughts and prayers are with the entire Noftsinger family.

Having been long time friends of Sara's family - I remember so well when she was born. What a family that is & Sara soon became the head of it all. She was a total delight to family & all who had the pleasure of knowing her.

She was so loved in the Lower School at Collegiate.
The last lunch of each school year she reminded me that we needed to sing happy birthday to her as she had a summer Birthday! And she loved it! What a loving tribute to a very special person!

That was a beautiful and touching description of the Earth Angel that she was. I know she is now rejoicing in heaven as she hears the words well done good and faithful servant and is no longer held bound by the restrictions of Earth. I know the family is feeling a huge salsa shaped hole in their hearts and I pray that God fills that with loving memories to sustain you until you can rejoice together again. My thoughts and prayers are with you all and so thankful that you shared her with me. Smooth swimming sweet lady
