Shirley Garnett
GARNETT, Shirley Enroughty, 81, went to be with the angels on April 30, 2011. Shirley, the oldest daughter of Edward (Buddy) and Lottie Enroughty, was born in Richmond, raised on Oregon Hill, and graduated from John Marshall High School. Shirley is survived by her husband of 58 years, Louis Garnett and her loving children, Susan Seward and Brian Garnett and their spouses, David and Wendy. Also surviving are her beloved grandchildren, Kelsey and Jessica Ryan Seward and Alex and Madison Garnett; her stepgrandchildren, Chase, Tucker and Brooke Langhorne. She is survived by her sister, Jane Grinnell (Frank); three nieces; six great-nieces and nephews; many cousins, two devoted, Nancy Lee Sprouse and Barbara Ann Miller. Faye Landrum (Earl), her long time friend since childhood, has stood by her side, and so have her many other friends. She worked for Travelers Insurance Co. all her adult life, taking several years off to raise her family. Shirley was a member of Deep Run Walking Club and a long time faithful member of Welborne Methodist Church, serving there in many capacities. A special thanks to Betty, Norma, Amanda, and Bon Secours Hospice for all their loving care. Visitation will be held from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, May 3 at the West Chapel, Bennett Funeral Home, 11020 W. Broad St. A celebration of Shirley's life will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, May 4, 2011 at Welborne Church Maybeury Drive. Interment will follow at Westhampton Cemetery. Shirley's loving ways and sense of humor will be missed forever.

Shirley was a good friend of 70 years, from 2nd grade through high school. I will miss our high school reunions. condolences to Louis and family.

Lou, Susan and Brian, I am so sorry for your loss yet comforted her struggle has ended. I wanted to let you know I am thinking of you. I'll miss Shirley. I'll never forget she was always there to support me and offer me sensible advice. She was a great lady and a super mom!

Aunt Shirley will always be remembered. She was a very caring and kind person to me and my children. Jewell and I loved her very much.
