ABRAHAMS, Siegfried H., 75, passed away on December 16, 2020. Born in 1945 in postwar Germany, Sigi spent most of his childhood in Altengamme, a village outside of Hamburg to which he felt deeply connected for his entire life. As a teenager, Sigi began a lengthy apprenticeship eventually becoming an engineer. His engineering work took him many places, including the U.S., where he emigrated in the '70s to work for Hauni Richmond. Once in Varina, Va., he found a new family of fellow Germans and quickly made himself at home. Sigi also worked for Philip Morris International, spending several years at their Switzerland location. He was an excellent engineer and developed several patents of machinery parts. He was also an avid skier and golfer.
He was preceded in death by his mother and stepfather, Lisa Harder Voss and Franz Voss; his brother, Michael Voss; and brother-in-law, Peter Petersen. He is survived by sister, Heidi Petersen; sister-in-law, Ruth Voss; former wife, Carter Abrahams; and beloved daughter, Emily Carter Abrahams.
Due to Covid-19, a Celebration of Life will be held in Varina at a later date.
