Steven Baker Kent

1957 - 2021

KENT, Steven Baker, 63, passed away October 20, 2021, after a courageous battle with brain cancer. He was preceded in death by his parents, Edwin Bailey Kent and Jeanne Baker Kent; and his sister, Kathy Parks Kent. He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Sandra F. Kent; sons, Steven Wilburn (Will) Kent, Rosser (Ross) Lee Kent and James Edwin (Win) Kent; his brother, Robert Edwin Kent (Mary Aarons); and many faithful cousins. Steve grew up in Columbia, Va., but resided in Midlothian, Va. for most of his adult life and was a member of Bon Air Baptist Church. He worked as a land surveyor and owned Steven B. Kent and Associates, P.C. Steve was an avid sports and music fan. He intertwined his love of his sons with sports and music by coaching little league teams and attending concerts. Adult sports leagues provided Steve with longstanding friendships with the Slugs and NBA Senior Basketball teams, as well as ACAC tennis teams. Despite Steve's declining health, our family was able to take a miraculous vacation in August to Myrtle Beach, S.C., his favorite place. Many thanks to our dedicated family and friends for the numerous visits, meals and donations to the GoFundMe during Steve's illness. Your love and support sustained us the past few months. We also express appreciation to Virginia Cancer Institute and Hospice of Virginia. A Celebration of Life will be held November 6, 2021 at 3 p.m. in the Pavilion at ACAC Fitness and Wellness Center, 11621 Robious Rd., Midlothian, Va. Reception catered by Candela's will immediately follow until 5 p.m.
