Dear Ann, Lucy and family, I was shocked and saddened today to learn of Steve´s passing. I was attending a service for a maternal cousin in North Carolina in April and suffered a fall resulting in a fractured hip on 21´st. I remained in Asheboro for surgery and in-patient rehab for several weeks. I have recovered completely - thankfully. I receive updates from David Storke on a regular basis, but apparently overlooked the passing of Steve. I share your family´s grief and assure you all that Steve´s passing leaves a vacancy in my heart. Sincerely, Jim Day

I met Steve fifty years ago when we competed against one another on the American Water Ski Association Eastern Region circuit. I will always remember him as a salt-of- the-earth good guy. After going our separate ways, we met again many years later as we vied for the National trick title in the senior divisions. By then winning was less important to him than the immense joy he displayed at watching his kids and, especially, his grandkids compete. They are the epitome of the water skiing family. Goodbye my friend, you will be missed.
