Susan Kirtley Obituary
September 30, 1957 - April 3, 2025
Our beloved sister, Blair passed away peacefully on April 3, 2025. She was born September 30, 1957 in Radford, Va. to Tom and Bruce Kirtley. Blair is survived by sisters Kappy Atkins and Gray Diebolt and brothers Tee Kirtley(Vicki) and William Kirtley(Melissa). She is also survived by nieces Whitney Bender(Carrie) and Kate Pelozza(John), nephews Zach and Campbell Diebolt, Will, Reid, Hayden andTucker Kirtley.
Blair was a beach girl, loving every family vacation in Nags Head for over 30 years and then south to Emerald Isle for years after. Our family trips grew over the years from the original 7 to 20 plus and were always filled with stories as funny as they were legendary.
Blair was also a fierce supporter of animal adoption, specifically in her case, Greyhounds. She made so many friends working with various Greyhound groups. She spent many years transporting adopted dogs vetting perspective adopters, fostering, mailing meds and donating to auctions that raised awareness for adopting the Greyhounds. She had many dogs and (and can't forget the) 2 cats over the years. And to say they all had a great life is an understatement.
There will be a graveside service at Hollywood Cemetery on June 13th at 10 a.m. Please join us at the celebration of life to follow.

Kappy, please accept our sincere sympathy over the loss of your sister, Blair. She sounded like a real animal loving soul. She was far too young to leave this earth.

I worked with Blair at the State Corporation Commission in the late 1980s and subsequently see her around town from time to time. I'm so sorry to hear of her untimely passing. As the days and weeks pass, and as you return to life's routine, may you continue to feel comforted by the love and support of family and friends.
