Suzanne Bartram Newbold Linkonis

Suzanne Bartram Newbold Linkonis, 80, of Chester, Virginia, entered God's Kingdom to be with our Lord on the morning of November 11, 2025, while in the loving arms of her husband at their home in Chester. During her brave fight against COPD she still thought more about other people and strove to live life to the end with a smile on her face. She was born on August 24, 1945, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, the fourth daughter of five girls born to Kathryn Taylor and William Bartram Newbold. She was raised in Mineola, Long Island, New York, and graduated from Mineola High School in 1963. While working in New York City, she met, and married Bertram Lawrence Linkonis, an officer in the United States Marine Corp, on May 29, 1966. They were happily married for over 59 years. While stationed in the South, she went back to college, and graduated from Albany State University, Albany, Georgia, with her Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology, Summa Cum Laude. Upon the family's later move to Richmond, Virginia, Suzanne earned her Master of Science degree from Virginia Commonwealth University, Magna Cum Laude, in Industrial Psychology. She worked in several Commonwealth of Virginia and Henrico County government agencies over the years, utilizing her skills and talents in the field of psychology/counseling, and ultimately became a supervisor. She accrued many accolades, and awards overtime for her work, as well as Who's Who Awards, both nationally and regionally. She also worked part-time with Mary Kay Cosmetics, as a Future Director, and was a successful representative of that company for over 40 years. Her charm, and grace was evident to all who knew her, and show who knew her, and showcased her love of cosmetology, and the confidence that it provides for women. Following retirement, Suzanne became a leader in her community, becoming President of several women's organizations, both in North Carolina, where she lived for six years, and in Richmond. In recent years, she was President of the Women's Club of Chester for two years and enjoyed giving back to her community philanthropically. She also participated in the New Virginia's Women's Club for many years, as well as the Arbor Landing Woman's Club, which she established and coordinated in her local community. She also became a mentor and "Special Friend" to a child at Harrowgate Elementary School for over five years. She became active in her parish, St. Joseph Catholic Church, as a Sacristan and Eucharistic Minister. She was a very generous and loving friend to many, as well as a wife and mother, aunt, grandmother and great-grandmother. She enjoyed baking for others, especially at Christmas, cooking original recipes, gardening, reading, and traveling whenever possible. She is preceded in death by her parents. Suzanne enjoyed the love of her sisters during her life: Carolyn, Barbara, Virginia, and Lorraine. Suzanne is also survived by her three loving children, Robert William, Deborah Anne, and Richard Anthony; as well as six grandchildren, Robert, Jr., Kara, Jessica, Gabriela, Valentina, and Porter; plus great-granddaughter, Inara; and a host of nieces, nephews, and very dear friends. The family will receive friends from 2 pm to 4 pm, on Sunday, November 30, 2025, at the Petersburg Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian burial celebrating Suzanne's life will be held at 12 pm, on Monday, December 1, 2025, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 151 W. Washington Street, Petersburg, Virginia. Interment will occur at St. Joseph Catholic Church Cemetery, 535 S. Crater Road, Petersburg, Virginia.
