Terry Adams Obituary
April 14, 1953 - November 1, 2025
Terry Lee Adams, 72, of Richmond, VA, passed away peacefully in his sleep on November 1, 2025.
He was born on April 14, 1953, in Lubbock, TX, the son of Ivy Vernon and Saleta Rayburn Adams.
Mr. Adams was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Robert Deen Adams; and sister-in-law, Barbara Guthrie Adams; and his sister-in-law, Donna Tolson Kelley. He is survived by his devoted wife of 40 years, Deborah Tolson Adams; and his three daughters and their families, Whitney Colvin Adams Newland and her husband, Kellon Everett Newland Jr., along with grandsons, Kellon Everett Newland III and Watts Tolson Newland of Baltimore, Leigh Taylor Adams of Richmond, and Virginia James Adams Hickok and her husband, Tyler Wade Hickok of Richmond.
He is also survived by his brother-in-law, Christopher P. Kelley; nieces, Heather Adams Webb, Melissa Adams, Tina DiMisa, and Erin Kelley Crump; nephew, Brent Kelley; as well as his great-nieces and great-nephew.
Mr. Adams was a proud graduate of Texas Tech University, where he earned both his undergraduate and Master of Business Administration degrees. He spent his entire professional career as a consultant with the firm now known as Accenture, retiring in 2002 as a Senior Director in the Manufacturing Segment. This role took him and his family to Geneva, Switzerland, for three years, a time that created core memories and lasting friendships.
Mr. Adams, known to many as "TA", was an avid golfer and enjoyed fishing and more, especially in Hot Springs. Loyal, generous, and possessing a sharp wit, in the words of a dear friend, "The world will be a much quieter place without him in it."
The family extends sincere appreciation to Dr. Rachna Raman, Dr. Singh Sahni, and the staff of Sheltering Arms and Sunrise Villas for their compassionate care.
A celebration of life will be held at Kinloch Golf Club on Saturday, November 15, from 2 to 4 p.m. Interment at Historic Christ Church in Weems will be private.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, Sheltering Arms Rehabilitation Hospital, or Youth on Course Virginia.
