Terry Basham Obituary

BASHAM Terry L. Basham, 54, of Mechanicsville, passed away Wednesday, January 10, 2007. He was preceded in death by his parents, Mary and Joseph Basham. He is survived by his fiancee, Dale Riley; two brothers, Joe Basham Jr. and Glenn Basham; sister, Cheryl Trexler; a large family and circle of friends. His famous quote was "Everything is just as it should be." The family will receive friends from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday at the Mechanicsville Chapel, Bennett Funeral Home, 8014 Lee-Davis Rd., and where services will be held 2 p.m. Saturday. Interment private.

Hi Willy,

It has almost been a week since you left this earth to be with our Heavenly Father. I know you have seen our mother by now and all those who have passed in our family. I know you saw the out pouring of love for you at the funeral. I learned so many things about you through your friends and coworkers.

I will miss you so much Willy and a day won't go by that I won't remember something we did together or said. I will keep your memory alive thru my kids Derrick, Meredith and Kim. I sure wish you could have been here on earth to see them grow and flourish but I know you will cheer them along and have a better view now of how we all are doing.

I love you Willy and tell mom hi for me!!

I haven't seen Terry for awhile, but when I heard of my great friends passing, my heart just sunk and tears came.I have know Terry for over 15 years,where he was our delivery driver at the florist.The best around town. He always had a smile on his face and an helping hand if you needed one. He will be greatly missed. I will cherish those memories I have of Terry. Photos I have from my wedding reception of Terry & Dale. To Dale & The Basham Family , May the Lord guide and comfort you though these sad times. You are all in my thoughts and prayers.

I have known Terry for over almost 15 years. He was one of the people who meant so much to me and helped me enourmously when I first came into the fellowship to which we both belonged. I am profoundly sorry to learn of his death. He will be missed by so many. He is in the big room with the God of his understanding, where we all are happy, joyous, and free.

I have not known Terry as long as most, about a year and a half, but during that time I have come to consider Terry a
close friend and co-worker. We had a few things in common which I guess helped us become "Partners in Crime".
We are both Programmers and served in the Army. Terry being a V-Vet never once said anything about me being
only peace-time. We used to laugh about the "way things never change in the Army".
I think the best was once trying to describe to other (non military) people how the potato peeler works when you have KP.
But most important was how Terry , when we first met , told me no matter what the question, email me, get on the elevator and see me , or phone me.
And during the next year and a half Terry stood by that, whenever I had a question he was there.
The last time I saw Terry was last week at a meeting, after the meeting he told me you are going to come to next Tuesday's luncheon with me "AREN'T YOU"
Well that didn't happen.
But maybe it sort of did when last year on my birthday he came into my office, grabbed me and said "It's your birthday and I am taking you out to lunch"
Terry you will be missed very much.

With all his physical problems, he always asked how I was doing. I have a great memory of he and I being the first to take our first four jumps in one day. It made us an elite group of two, which I will never forget. He will be missed as a great friend. My condolences to his family and many friends.
