Thomas Prousalis Obituary

Thomas T. Prousalis, Sr.

December 16, 1928 - February 26, 2026

Thomas T. Prousalis, Sr., of Henrico, Va., passed peacefully in his home at age 97 on February 26, 2026.

He was born in Woburn, Mass., to Greek immigrant parents. As a paratrooper, he fought in the Philippine islands during WWII after lying about his age to enlist at 16.

Following discharge in 1946, he married and raised his family in Richmond, Va., where he began in the insurance business in 1959. He and his son, Curtis, provided insurance and financial services through Prousalis and Associates.

He is remembered for his commitment and active participation in Saints Constantine and Helen Greek Orthodox Cathedral, where he served many years as a youth educator, chanter, and altar assistant.

He is survived by his loving wife of 39 years, Susan; his daughter, Elany; his sons, Thomas (Anita), Curtis (Janet), Christos (Carol), Nicholas (Tina), Paul (Beverly), and Charles (Julia); and 17 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, March 5, 2026 at Bliley's – Central, 3801 Augusta Ave., Richmond, VA 23230, with a Trisagion Prayer Service at 7:15 p.m. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, March 6, 2026 at Sts. Constantine and Helen Greek Orthodox Cathedral, 30 Malvern Ave., Richmond, VA 23221 with interment to follow at Westhampton Memorial Park.
