Thomas A. Williams

WILLIAMS Thomas A. Williams, age 81, of Callao, Va., died peacefully at his home on December 1, 2006. Mr. Williams was a practicing attorney in Northumberland County for over 50 years, 16 of which he was the Commonwealth Attorney. He was a longtime member of Henderson United Methodist Church, a charter member of the Northumberland County Lions Club, a member of the Heathsville Masonic Lodge # 109, AF&AM and the ACCA Shrine Temple. He had a great passion for lighthouses and was a known speaker on the topic. He was also a World War I history buff often spending Veterans Day visiting those on the Northern Neck who served. Mr. Williams is survived by his wife of 53 years, Hunter; three children, Lori Miller of King William, Va.; Dennis Williams and wife, Martha, of Reedville, Va.; Lesli Henry and husband, Peter, of Norfolk, Va.; six grandchildren, Stacy Eubanks, Hunter and Thomas Williams, and Andrew, Spencer and Macy Henry; two great-grandchildren; one brother, Orville Williams and wife, Adele, of Mechanicsville, Va.; and many nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. on Sunday, December 3, at Henderson United Methodist Church, Hyacinth, with burial following in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday (today) at the Welch Funeral Home, Marks Chapel, with a Masonic Memorial Service at 8 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the Henderson United Church Endowment Fund, c/o Debra Harper, Box 22, Callao, Va. 22435.
