Timothy Teter Obituary
Timothy Arthur Andrew Teter
March 5, 1957 - July 24, 2025
Timothy Arthur Andrew Teter, known to all as Tim, passed away at his home in Richmond, Virginia, on July 24, 2025, at the age of 68.
Tim was born on March 5, 1957, and spent most of his early life in Paoli, Pennsylvania, where he grew up surrounded by his parents and 11 siblings. After graduating from George Washington University in Washington, D.C., Tim made Richmond his permanent home, a city where he built a life filled with love, family, laughter, and community.
It was in Richmond that he met the love of his life, Betty-Anne, while she was DJing at the Korean Cavern, a story he loved to tell. Together, they created a life filled with laughter, music, and deep devotion to family. They raised two daughters, Anne-Stuart and Mary-Austin, and Tim took great pride and joy in being a hands-on, endlessly supportive father. Later, he became a doting grandfather to Anne-Patterson, daughter of Mary-Austin and her husband, Thomas Shockley.
Tim was known for many things: his impeccable bow tie collection, his famous homemade mac and cheese, perfect chocolate cookies, and his legendary sense of humor. Around the holidays, his homemade eggnog became a family tradition, always made with love and always gone too fast. He brought joy and laughter into every space he entered.
His deep love for dogs was another defining part of who he was. From his early years with Casey, to Kelly, who was part of his daughters' childhood, and finally to his beloved Ginger in later life, Tim's home was always filled with furry companionship. He extended this affection to his daughters' golden retrievers as well. Phoebe and Charlotte were both spoiled with treats, belly rubs, and stylish doggie bandannas.
Tim is survived by his beloved wife, Betty-Anne; his daughters, Anne-Stuart and Mary-Austin; his son-in-law, Thomas; and his granddaughter, Anne-Patterson. His warmth, humor, and unconditional love will be carried forward by all who knew and loved him.
A funeral Mass will be held, 11 a.m., Friday, August 1, 2025 at St. Bridget Catholic Church with a reception to follow at the Westwood Club. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to a local animal shelter or a charity close to your heart.
