WILLIAMS, Walter, 84, of Richmond, VA peacefully passed away on Tuesday, January 28, 2025, at The Crossings at Bon Air surrounded by his loving family. Walter was preceded in death by his devoted wife Alma who passed away in 2017. They were married for 54 years and their marriage was full of love shared by family. Walter is survived by his three sons, their wives, and children, Richard (Gina), son, Jonathan of Salt Lake City, and daughter Kelly of Mt. Vernon, WA., Steven (Caroline) of Wilmington, NC., and Brian (Jinger), daughters, Casey and Stella of Midlothian. He is also survived by his brothers, Roger Williams (Mary Frances) of Moseley, VA, and Ed Williams of Fayetteville, NC; along with many loved nieces and nephews from both the Williams and the Salmon families. Walter was preceded in death by his parents, Caleb and Mollie Williams. Walter Kent Williams was born in Clover, VA on March 24, 1940. He graduated as the valedictorian from Blackstone HS, joined the US Navy, and served his country proudly for 11 years. While in the Navy, he graduated from Purdue University with Bachelors and Masters Degrees in Electrical Engineering. Throughout his life, he continued to represent the epitome of quiet strength and integrity of a Navy veteran. Walter was a devoted father and grandparent. He loved spending time with his grandkids, hiking, traveling, and walking the old family farm. He grew up on the family farm in Blackstone, VA, and carried his passion for tending the earth and gardening his entire life. A fond memory of the family was Dad's garden at the house on Greglynn. Dad was a quiet man with a contagious laugh: he was always thinking, problem-solving, and quietly helping others.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, April 5, 2025, at 11:30 a.m. at Bennett Funeral Home, 14301 Ashbrook Parkway, Chesterfield, VA 23832. Visitation will be held prior to the service at 11 a.m. There will be a burial service and reception at 1 p.m. following the service at Hopewell Methodist Church, 6200 Courthouse Road, Chesterfield, VA 23832.
