Walter Francis Witt, Jr. died on December 4, 2025.
He is survived by his wife, Rosemary Winter Witt; his daughter, Leslie Witt Millman and her husband, Jay Owen Millman; his son, Walter Francis Witt, III and his wife, Kathryn Sheffield Sydnor Witt; four grandchildren, Rachel Evelyn Millman and her husband, William Tilden Boland IV, Edward Joseph Millman, David Witt Millman, and William Mason Witt; and his beloved golden retriever, Walter.
He graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School in 1950, from the University of Richmond in 1954, and from the University of Richmond School of Law in 1966. He served as an officer in the United States Army from 1955 to 1957. He worked for the Chesapeake and Potomac Telephone Company of Virginia from 1957 to 1964. He joined the law firm of Hunton & Williams in 1966. He became a partner in that firm in 1974 and has served as senior counsel to the firm since 1998. He enjoyed summers at his family's vacation home on the Chesapeake Bay in Ophelia, Virginia. Contributions may be made in his name to the Richmond SPCA.
