William Andrews Obituary

ANDREWS, William "Bill" Lee, age 87, passed December 25, 2022, into the loving arms of Jesus.

Bill is survived by his wife, Linda Clator Leisfeld; and three children by a previous marriage, William L. Andrews Jr. (Diane), Alicia Sacks (Jeff) and Elizabeth Hyman (Chris); grandchildren, Jeffrey Sacks Jr. (deceased), Jamie Sacks, Chris Andrews, Christian Hyman, Toddy Jordan and husband, Win, Emma Hyman and Stewart Hyman; and great-grandchildren, Neilson Andrews, William Henry Andrews (deceased) and Landon Sacks; and Linda's children, Tommy Liesfeld (Tina), Ashton and Jordon (Dustin); and her great-grandchildren, Easton and Rylan.

Bill was an avid hunter and was passionate about his time in the military service. He enlisted for three years active duty in the U.S. Army and became a border legionnaire on the German-Czechoslovakian border with the 11th armor cavalry. Upon honorable discharge, SFC, Bill was ready to work. Bill then joined Ramon W. Andrews Insurance Agency, Inc.

Bill served on numerous boards: Lincoln Savings and Loan, Good Samaritan Ministries, Central YMCA, National Conference of Christian and Jews, West Richmond Rotary Club, West Richmond Businessmen's Association, Braille Circulating Library, and past trustee of Grove Ave Baptist Church. Additionally, Bill was a member of the Chamberlayne Society, the Commonwealth Club, and past memberships include the Virginia Yacht Club, the Country Club of Virginia, and the Palm Bay Club in Miami, Florida.

He enjoyed many good times with his wife, Linda, children, cousins, Coleman and Wilson, special friends and clients. His hobbies over the years included, hunting, fishing, boating, flying and motorcycling with his children and buddies. Reading also became one of his favorite pastime memories.

Our dad was a tender-hearted, caring, and compassionate man who had a heart for serving others in the community. Our dad radiated warmth and kindness to everyone and will be remembered as a Godly leader and a man of strength and character. He gave all of us the gift of knowing, trusting and loving the Lord. He has been a wonderful husband, dad, grandfather and friend, and a source of Godly wisdom to so many people. We will miss his jokes, hugs, wisdom and talking about "the next meal." He is finally home with Jesus, and we look forward to being together again someday. We love you, Daddy (Capn')!

The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, December 30, at the Central Chapel of Bennett Funeral Home, 3215 Cutshaw Avenue. Funeral services will be private.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Good Samaritan Ministries at 2307 Hull Street, Richmond Va., 23224 on to Shriners Hospital for Children, 950 W. Faris Road, Greenville, S.C. 29605.

He was the absolute most kind and caring father and friend. He was so very nice to me. He took me on many motorcycle trips around university of Richmond. And would laugh as he went over a big bump and I hung on for dear life. We had so much fun. I truly loved him.

Well done, thy good and faithful servant.
I only met Mr Andrew's once, but it was a warm and memorable day for my sister and me. Mr Andrew typified all that was truly good and kind on earth. He reminded me of what a "southern gentleman" truly is and was with his demeanor, manners and kindness. God bless and welcome Mr. Andrew's into God's garden. His work here is done and done well.

Mr. Andrews was a boss and a friend to my mother Patsy for 56 years. His support for our family will not be forgotten as long as I live.
