Buck was a Southern Gentleman with a great sense of humor. I enjoyed the many photo copy projects that he and Patsy placed in my care. It was always a joy to be in his company. Much love and comfort to Patsy, his family and friends. Duane Berger, Doswell, VA.

I will miss Mr Herbert and the chuckles he gave Stan and I. Later in life, my husband and I did call him Buck! My first memory of him as a youth was at our Methodist retreats and camping where he made the BEST fried donuts for breakfast. You can ask my children because for years when they struggled at times going to youth group, I spoke of our great memories. He made it fun. Later as an adult, I got to know him on a different level at church. He was funny, yet certainly a devoted follower of Christ and said the preacher best not go past 12 pm or he´d have to leave. Lunch and restaurants in Ashland were first come first serve after the church services ended. May he rest in peace. Love and peace to all of the family! Ann Bradley Ballance

I was gifted the perfect father. Never ever a harsh, critical or loud word. He always had that special look in his eyes that told me that he understood me. Even if I didn´t understand me. Always encouraging me to follow my dreams wherever they led. He was the embodiment of unconditional love for his family, country and God. Dad, I feel your presence daily. You´ll be horribly missed, especially your wonderful sense of humor.
Thank you for being my Dad Cyndi

Buck worked with me and my group of friends many, many years ago at Ginter Park Methodist Church. He added so much enjoyment to our young teen years.

Big daddy was the best grandfather anyone could of asked for, from bringing me surprise McDonald´s for lunch at school I don´t think he even told my mom, to taking me to football practice after school, or just going to the house after school enjoying an afternoon snack then napping while watching the Tv while granny helped me with my homework, I´ll never forget stories from him in the Navy or when he did deliveries all the family history in Richmond. I hope him and dad are enjoying catching up for the missed time

Dear Dana, Russ, Allyse, Tessa and Jake - We´ve already talked, but I just wanted to include a message here, again expressing our most heartfelt condolences. Your dad/grandad was such a wonderful man, deeply devoted to your mom/grandmother and the whole family, bravely served his country and founded a business that helped many. His life made such a positive difference in this world and it was an honor to know him. We´re holding all of you and your mom/grandmother in our hearts. We´ll see you soon; we love you. - With love always, Karen, Ken & Adam
