William Langford Obituary
William (Bill) Berkeley Langford, Jr.
Chesterfield, Virginia
1949-2025
William Berkeley "Bill" Langford, Jr. passed away at home on October 14, 2025, just one day shy of his 76th birthday.
Born on October 15, 1949, in Chesterfield, Va., Bill spent his entire life in the community where he was raised. He was preceded in death by his loving parents, Annie Beck and William B. Langford, Sr.; brothers-in-law Eddie Gibson and Stanley Fortune; and the family dog, Vegas.
Bill is survived by his devoted wife and high-school sweetheart, Georgia (Hirsch) Langford; daughters, Lindsay and Hilary Langford; beloved grandchildren, Nash and Roux Robertson; sister, Brenda Gibson; and nieces, Mindy Frey (Jason) and Shelby Anderson (Jack). He also leaves behind his two loyal Boston Terriers, Elvis and Ziggy, and his beloved little pickup truck, the infamous Hooptie. Bill also loved, and will be fondly remembered by many extended family members, including sisters-in-law, Sandra Fortune and Linda Hirsch; brothers-in-law Sonny Hirsch and Kelley (Ellen) Polyak; Daniel Robertson; Jennifer Bridges; and a wide circle of loving nieces and nephews.
Bill proudly served six years in the U.S. Army Reserves before earning his Bachelor of Science in Biology from Virginia Commonwealth University in 1974. He went on to have a long and respected career with Reynolds Metals (Alcoa), where he was known for his dedication and impeccable work ethic. He was also a longtime and devout member of both the Virginia Deer Hunters Association and the National Rifle Association.
There's a wide net to cast when we talk about this passionate outdoorsman; someone who could teach you to pull a bass, track a buck, or skin a deer with ease. But one thing is certain; the woods, and especially his hunt club, were his sanctuary. He was an avid deer and turkey hunter, a skilled freshwater angler, and a well-rounded huntsman who loved sharing his knowledge of nature and wildlife with others. He cherished the quiet stillness of early mornings, whether alone or alongside his dearest friends and chosen brothers, especially during hunting season.
Bill was a simple man, with wit sharper than a switchblade knife, quiet strength, and unwavering integrity. He was one of the most humble and loyal human beings you could ever have the honor to know. We will dearly miss his stories, jokes, and impersonations, and will forever hold close the good times and precious memories.
A celebration of Bill's life will be held on Sunday, December 14, from 1 to 4 p.m. at Amelia Springs Hunt Club, 7720 Mt. Zion Road, Jetersville, VA 23083. In honor of Bill, guests are invited to wear camouflage.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Virginia Deer Hunters Association or Virginia Hunters for the Hungry.
"I'm gonna love you forever and ever
Forever and ever, forever and ever
Forever and ever, amen."
