It is with deep regret that so many people won't ever get to meet Toby. I only met him after my sister-in-law introduced me and what a rare find he was. Thanks to Toby and his generous offer to introduce us to Owens & Minor, my project may become a reality. I feel like by his introducing me to someone else, it was his way of telling me to continue on and don't give up. Toby's offer to buy my patent gave me great enthusiasm, even though he knew it wasn't for sale. He will be greatly missed. The first time I met him, I felt like I really "knew" him. Miss you Dr. Merchant.

A kind and generous man who considered himself a good friend to everyone he met...and a great, clever friend with sound advice; that was Toby. I did not know him as long as my husband, but I will sure miss driving out to the pharmacy to fill his bent ear about the latest happenings with Tru-Catch. His remarks were always encouraging, and sparked with humor which always made my day. Nancy

Our paths only crossed a few times in this life, but it was clear that Toby was an asset to the world.
