William Skahan Obituary

SKAHAN, William Hess, a lifelong Virginian, departed this life on Friday, December 9, 2022, from INOVA Loudoun Hospital, Lansdowne, after a long struggle with lung cancer. Bill was born in Richmond at MCV to William Reed and LaVonne Hess Skahan on June 14, 1948, who predeceased him. He had been a recent resident of the Loudoun Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Leesburg, Va., which took excellent care of him. He was a graduate of Thomas Jefferson High School and J. Sargent Reynolds Community College, where he earned an associate's degree. Bill is survived by his sisters, Maureen and Debra Skahan of Round Hill, Va.; as well as a host of friends and extended family. Bill was an active member of the Carver Senior Center in Purcellville, Va., where he was a member of the Carver Writers Group. Bill's poetry was published in several Carver Writers Group books, edited by Bobbie Carducci and available on Amazon. His limericks especially brought a smile to everyone. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made in Bill's honor to the Epilepsy Foundation or the National Cancer Research Foundation.

Visitation will be held on Friday, December 16, 2022, 5 until 7 p.m. at Lyles Funeral Chapel, 630 South 20th Street, Purcellville, Va. 20132.

Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, December 20, 2022, 11 a.m. at Saint Bridget Catholic Church, 6006 Three Chopt Road, Richmond, Va. 23226. He will be interred with his parents in Mount Calvary Cemetery, Richmond, Va.

Arrangements by: Lyles Funeral Service, serving Northern Virginia. 1-800-388-1913, 703-501-9902. Eric S. Lyles, Director.
