James A. Skaggs, 82, of Ailey, Ga., formally of Bainbridge, died 7:20 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 26, 2017 at Meadows Park and Rehab Center, Ga.
He was born July 26,1935 in Ross County to the late William and Mildred Jenkins Skaggs.
He is survived by his five children, Brenda Cooper, Carol (Wade) Darr, Cindy Skaggs, Dottie (Mark) James and Paula (David) Fowler, all of Bainbridge; grandchildren, Crystal Conaway, Desiree and Danielle Fowler, Cody James and Dustin Darr; great-grandchildren, Amanda, Alli, Ely and Grant; the mother of his children, Mary Lou Skaggs; sisters, Shirley Brewer of Cynthiana, Rosella Jenkins of Chillicothe and Bertha Evans of Bainbridge; and a special friend, John D. McClure.
He was preceded in death by sisters, Kathleen and Dorothy Holbert; brother, Jay Skaggs; nephew, Doug Holbert; and niece, Jane Strausbaugh.
James was owner and operator of J&J Feed store for many years and he loved John Deere tractors, farm animals and auctions.
Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 1 at the Smith-Moore-Ebright Funeral Home, Bainbridge. Burial will follow in the Bainbridge Cemetery.
Friends may visit with James' family from noon until the time of service Wednesday.
