Wiley Perkins Obituary
Pastor Wiley B. Perkins, 90, of the Samantha community, passed away Saturday, Dec. 3, 2022, at his residence.
Wiley was born March 10, 1932, in Magoffin County, Kentucky, the son of the late Jackson Taylor and Ella Mae (Blair) Perkins.
Beside his parents, Wiley was preceded in death by his first wife, Jean Perkins, On Aug. 3, 1967. Wiley was united in marriage to Beverly (Brown) Perkins, who passed away on May 10, 2017, after 50 years of marriage. Wiley was also preceded by three brothers and three sisters.
Wiley served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. After his service to his country, Wiley went to work for Cooper Energy in Springfield, Ohio and retired after 30 years of service. On Dec. 10, 1971, the Samantha Freewill Baptist selected Brother Wiley B. Perkins to serve their church as pastor. Pastor Wiley retired from the church in 2022 after serving 51 years.
Wiley is survived by two sons, Jeffrey B. "Jeff" (Peggy) Perkins of New Vienna, Ohio and Jonathan W. "Jon" (Jerisue) Perkins of Samantha; daughter, Kim (Richard) Blevins of New Vienna; special friend, Jeff Blevins of New Vienna; brothers, Larry Douglas Perkins and Thomas Perkins; sister, Connie Rice; several nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends; and his dog, Lulu.
Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 8, 2022, at the Samantha Freewill Baptist Church, 10211 S.R. 72, Leesburg, Ohio. 45135. Pastor Edwin Hayes and Pastor Mike Brown will officiate. Graveside services will be 1 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 15, 2022, at the Rose Hill Burial Park in Springfield, Ohio with military rites conducted by the Highland County Veterans Honor Guard.
Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 7, 2022, at the church.
The Thompson Funeral Home has the honor of serving the family.

Jeff & Jon I'm so sorry about your dad I know all to well what it fells like to loose the most important people in your life and sorry just does not seem to be enough your father has always been there for me even after my family moved away he never forgot us and we never forgot him. I have the fondest memory's of the church services he gave the laughs and tears they were all good. My husband has never been to church until I brought to church when we were home to burey my father he still talks to everyone about meeting Brother Wiley we all know he is in a better place and beside Beverly Our thoughts are with you in tis time of grief it will easy with time.
