Eleanor Lilnkenhoker Obituary

Eleanor Linkenhoker Eleanor Hinkel Linkenhoker, a resident of the Masonic Village of Warminster, Warminster, PA, and formerly of Lower Providence Township, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 22, 2011, surrounded by her family who loved her. She was 95. Eleanor was retired from the American Baptist Church Missions Center, King of Prussia, where she held various positions during her employment from 1964 until 1986, beginning as a sales clerk in the Judson Book Store and completing her career managing book sales at seminars held throughout the eastern coast. She and her husband, Walt, enjoyed these trips meeting many interesting people along the way. Eleanor was born on December 14, 1915 in Wildwood, NJ, the daughter of Edward Charles Hinkel and Sarah Ann (Drew) Hinkel. She was a graduate in the Class of 1934 fromNorristown High School. As a young adult, she was very active in Calvary Baptist Church, Norristown and continued to be active serving as a Sunday School Teacher for over 40 years and served on various boards. In her later years, she, she and her husband belonged to Lower Providence Baptist Church, where she continued to be active. Eleanor married Walter Linkenhoker on July 5, 1940 and enjoyed 57 years of marriage until Walt's death on December 27, 1997. They had four children, twin sons, Walter N. Linkenhoker, Jr. (Nancy Kingham) of Magna, Utah, and Charles E. Linkenhoker of Audubon, born August 16, 1942; Roy L. Linkenhoker (Susan Root) of Trappe, born August 16, 1945; and Marianne Linkenhoker Catagnus (Joe) of Blue Bell, born August 17, 1953. She was the grandmother of nine, Kristen (Linkenhoker) McNamara (Sean), Heidi Linkenhoker Hysore (Joel), Connie Linkenhoker, Walter N. Linkenhoker III, Ronald Linkenhoker, and Alison Linkenhoker Hixson (Vaughn), Roy L. Linkenhoker, Jr., Amy Linkenhoker Conrad (Edwin D. Conrad Jr..), and Rebecca Catagnus Laken (Sam). Great grandmother of eleven, Josh, Aaron and Jadeyn McNamara, Maura Hysore, Amanda and Jacob Conrad, Breana Linkenhoker, Weston Linkenhoker, Andrew, Mason, and Samantha Hixson, and Joey Laken. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her brother, CHarles E. Hinkel; sisters, Esther Hinkel Bacon and Ruth Hinkel Printz; and her daughter in law, Beverly (Schwartz) Linkenhoker. In addition to being a wonderful mother and wife, she was a Den Mother, Assistant Brownie Leader, Room Mother, and volunteer at the State Hospital. She was a recipient in June, 1981, of the Four Chaplains Award honoring her years of service in the community. Eleanor, in spite of her age, and her failing health, continued to the very end to be able to show her love, her affection, and her remarkable ability to let others know that they were appreciated until the very end. This was so very obvious by the outpouring of love and affection for her by the staff of the Masonic Village who truly became family and her home away from home. Funeral Services will be held Tuesday, March 29 at Lower Providence Baptist Church, 3430 Ridge Pike, Eagleville with the Rev. Robert French officiating. Relatives and friends may call from 10 to 11 a.m. with the service immediately following. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that memorial contributions be made to the "Treat Fund" the Masonic Village of Warminster, 850 Norristown Road, Warminster, PA 18974-2628.

I grew up in Norristown just one block from your home. Received religious education taught by your mother in Sunday School classes at Calvary Baptist Church. Continued also onto Lower Providence Baptist Church and was fortunate to have a continued friendship. She was a wonderful lady and has contributed so much to others always showing concern and love, May God's strength, comfort, and peace be yours. Betty Lou (Kenworthy) Gallo,

I am truly heartbroken over her passing. I have known her my whole life and when my own Mother passed away, she was there for me and at that moment became my "second" Mom. I will miss her always, but will remember her with all my love.
