Mary DAVIDSON Obituary

DAVIDSON, Mary Helen Essexville, Michigan Mary Helen Davidson, 75, of Essexville, our compassionate, supportive, and loving wife, mother, grandma, great-grandma, sister, aunt, and friend went home to be with the Lord on the evening of Thursday, March 31, 2016 at McLaren Bay Region. Mary was born in Barry County, Michigan on May 8, 1940, the daughter of the late Seward and Helen (Beck) Walton. Mary graduated from Fairgrove High School and furthered her studies at Central Michigan University. While at Central Michigan, Mary met Robert Wayne Davidson. They dated, fell in love, and were united in marriage on February 11, 1961. Mary retired after many years of service as a librarian with John Glenn High School, St. John's School, and the Bay County Library System. Mary's love for the Lord and her faith were the foundation for her life. She was raised in the Evangelical United Brethren Church, which eventually merged to become the United Methodist Church; a heritage Mary was truly proud of. She was a dedicated member of St. Luke's United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Women. Mary was very active at both the local district and conference level of the United Methodist Women, holding many offices and winning Woman of the Year, along with several 5-Star Awards. Known for her selfless ways, Mary found joy in volunteer service and was a former volunteer with Habitat for Humanity, Relay for Life, The Bay County Historical Society, and The Bay City Players. She belonged to the "Stamping Divas" and had a true love for scrapbooking, reading, and creative card making. In her younger years, she enjoyed camping and traveling. Mary's positive ways, wonderful sense of humor, and dedication to all who knew and loved her will live on for generations to come. Mary leaves to cherish her memory, Bob, her loving husband of fifty-five years. She was the unconditional loving mother of Bethany (Mark) Bentley and Dawn (Aaron) Tuck. Mary will be deeply missed, but lovingly remembered by her grandchildren, Chelsa (Eric) Swiecicki, Christopher Bentley, and Jeffrey Bentley. She is also survived by her great-granddaughter, Hanna Swiecicki; brother, David (Carolyn) Walton; sister, Anne (Larry) McWhorter; in-laws, Jim (Donna) Ingram, along with many nieces, nephews, and friends. In addition to her parents, Mary was welcomed home to heaven by her grandson, Alexander Bentley, and father and mother-in-law, Lloyd and Geraldine Ingram. Mary's family will be present to receive visitors on Sunday, April 3, 2016 from 2:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Skorupski Family Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 955 N. Pine Rd., Hampton Twp. On Monday, April 4, 2016, Mary will be taken to St. Luke's United Methodist Church, 206 Scheurmann St., Essexville, where visiting will continue from 5:00 PM until the time of her 6:00 PM Celebration of Life. Cremation will follow and Mary will be laid to rest in the church's scattering garden at a later date. Memorial contributions may be directed to St. Luke's United Methodist Church or Bay County Habitat for Humanity. Expressions of sympathy may be shared with the family online at www.skorupskis.com.

Dear Bob, Beth, and Dawn

I am devastated by the news of Mary's passing. She brought such joy love and laughter to my life whenever I was with her.

"Do not mourn the absence of the flame. remember and celebrate how brightly it burned". There is much to celebrate in Mary's life.
Sending you all my love and prayers. May you be filled with the Peace of Christ. Barb
